Calls made with Sidetone are captured automatically: use Analyze on the phone or in the call history. You can also drop a pcap or pcapng from Wireshark, tcpdump, sngrep or an SBC anywhere on this page. Analysis runs in this browser; nothing is uploaded. Or try an example with a known problem:
Diagnostics
Server reachability
Sends SIP OPTIONS from the selected account and measures the round trip. A 200, 404 or 405 all prove the server is reachable; silence points at the address, port, firewall or network interface.
DNS (RFC 3263)
Shows how a SIP domain resolves: NAPTR, SRV for UDP, TCP and TLS, then A/AAAA, and which address Sidetone would use.
Phone provisioning
Fetches what a desk phone with this MAC would get, over TFTP, HTTP or HTTPS, and says what came back: file not found, the format (Sidetone, Yealink, Polycom, Cisco) and the account it describes. Nothing is saved.
NAT and public address
Asks STUN servers which public address and port they see. Different ports for different servers mean a symmetric NAT, the usual cause of one-way audio.
Audio
Capture on an interface
Records other hosts' traffic as it crosses this computer: a PBX, an SBC, a desk phone on a mirrored port. Uses libpcap (Linux, macOS) or Npcap (Windows) and usually needs elevated rights; the error says what to change.
